Firm attorneys coach elementary school students in the 2015 Annual GeoPlunge Tournament.
On May 19, 2015, Hollingsworth LLP coached two teams of students from Garrison Elementary School in the Annual GeoPlunge Tournament, through the Firm’s participation with the Washington Lawyers' Committee. Attorneys from HLLP have been working with students from the local Garrison Elementary School, located in the Logan Circle neighborhood of DC, since the fall of 2014 to prepare for the fast-paced geography-based tournaments in December 2014 and again in May 2015. The tournaments were held at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and nearly 100 teams from the District of Columbia Public Schools participated.
Through weekly coaching sessions, the Garrison students got excited about geography and social studies and learned valuable lessons about sportsmanship. Both the students and the lawyers benefited from their weekly interactions and enjoyed a celebratory pizza party at the Firm after the May tournament.
