Continuing our commitment to the Washington, DC community, the Firm designates Greater DC Diaper Bank as its August 2021 Community Engagement Partner. The Firm will donate to Greater DC Diaper Bank and match donations by all Firm employees made in August.
Greater DC Diaper Bank was started in 2010 after its founder learned food stamps and WIC funds did not cover diapers and that social-service organizations in the Washington, DC metro area desperately needed diapers. Greater DC Diaper Bank provides diapers to social-service organizations that are already helping families in need through comprehensive programs. Diapers function as a “gateway” to introduce other vital resources to hard-to-reach families.
During the pandemic, demand for diapers increased more than threefold, from 150,000 diapers a month to more than 550,000. The Greater DC Diaper Bank now serves upwards of 25,000 families, compared with 10,000 before the pandemic.
