Hollingworth LLP designates Gifts for the Homeless as November 2021 Community Engagement Partner
The Firm designated Gifts for the Homeless (GFTH) as its November 2021 Community Engagement Partner, making a donation and matching donations by all Firm employees.
Going back many years, the Firm has participated in GFTH's annual clothing drive—the largest in Washington, DC. During the pandemic, the organization has faced difficulties facilitating these drives and is experiencing even greater funding needs to help it source and deliver clothes to area shelters. This time last year the December program was suspended amid concerns about the spread of COVID but GFTH is receiving clothing again.
For more than thirty years, Gifts for the Homeless has been providing essential new winter clothing items and blankets, as well as good used clothing and accessories, to homeless shelters, soup kitchens, transitional housing facilities, and other organizations in order to keep homeless men, women, and children in the DC metro area a little warmer each winter.
One-hundred percent of every penny received from the public each year is used to purchase and deliver new warm coats, hats, gloves, socks, blankets and more – with a retail value of more than $1.5 million — to homeless support organizations throughout the DC/MD/VA metro area. GFTH is an all-volunteer nonprofit and runs the largest clothing drive in the city each December. With the help of hundreds of volunteers, they sort and deliver 3,000-4,000 bags of good used clothing, bedding, and accessories to nearly fifty homeless support organizations across the Washington metro area.
We encourage everyone in the community to donate new or gently used clothing, especially cold-weather wear, and/or to donate or volunteer your time to this very worthy cause.
