Marchello D. Gray is a key member of the firm’s Complex Litigation, Pharmaceutical Products, and Toxic Torts & Products Liability practice groups where he represents multiple Global 500 chemical and drug corporations. Bringing a real-world sense to the legal issues and problems faced by these companies in a wide range of matters, he has an instinctive ability to unravel the complexities of mass tort litigation into simple, straightforward themes that effectively convey our clients’ stories to judges and juries.

Recently, Mr. Gray served as trial counsel in defense of a series of personal injury trials in Cook County, Illinois circuit court arising from alleged exposure to ethylene oxide emissions from a medical device sterilization company.  Representing corporate defendants in serial mass tort litigation, federal multidistrict litigation, individual state court proceedings, and coordinated statewide litigation, he is experienced with all facets of the litigation process. This experience includes coordinating company-wide electronic discovery document collection and production; evidentiary and dispositive motions practice; the preparation for and defense of depositions of corporate representatives, corporate fact witnesses, and expert witnesses; defending mediation; and trial. As an integral part of the Firm’s Roundup litigation team, Mr. Gray has specialized in developing the company’s science-based defense strategy and has worked extensively with the expert witnesses on report preparation, deposition testimony, and trial testimony.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Gray represented a corporate client in a multi-plaintiff lawsuit resulting from the deadly explosion of an underground natural gas pipeline, and he negotiated the settlement in a multi-plaintiff toxic tort case involving airborne contaminants.  He successfully defended another corporate client in a catastrophic wrongful death action stemming from an industrial plant accident and was a member of the trial team that obtained a multi-million dollar verdict for the company in the subsequent indemnity suit seeking reimbursement from the deceased contractor’s employer.

Mr. Gray is named as a "Rising Star" in the Washington DC edition of Super Lawyers.  He received his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School where he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Society, was Stipend Fund Top Fundraiser in the Vanderbilt Legal Aid Society, and was Vice President of Vanderbilt Law School Ambassadors.
